There are a number of observation networks in Alaska that serve various purposes, measure various meteorological parameters, and are maintained and operated by various agencies. Most of the climate summaries found on this site are from the first-order and the cooperative observation network. These are designed to produce high quality climate observations and are maintained by the National Weather Service.
There are other networks throughout the state, however, that users may find which gives additional parameters, such as water equivalence of a snowpack or high frequency wind data. Click on the map or the navigation bar at left for information regarding the various observational networks found in Alaska.
